THE CATALYST
Animals have been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember—cats, horses, pigs, and dogs, spanning an array of breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Among these animals, the German Shepherd holds a special place in my heart as a companion.
GOOD FORTUNE
For nearly two decades, I've been immersed in the world of teaching, with a primary goal of ensuring that both dog and handler are engaged in the learning process. My approach is straightforward: a dynamic interplay of verbal markers and rewards that clearly communicate success to the canine student. I firmly believe in tailoring techniques to suit the unique personalities and needs of each dog-handler duo—an ethos that firmly rejects any "one-size-fits-all" methods.
My journey in dog training has been punctuated by notable achievements. I've participated in and earned titles in a diverse range of AKC disciplines—obedience, rally, tracking, CGC, and Therapy Dog programs. More significantly, over the past twelve years, I've devoted myself to the rigorous demands of Schutzhund, a German dog training discipline encompassing obedience, tracking, and protection—a stringent yet deeply rewarding test of a working dog's capabilities.
Currently, I find myself engaged in a new chapter, working alongside my retired working dog in NACSW K9 Nosework—a pursuit that taps into the innate talents and keen senses of our canine companions.
Through these experiences, I've come to cherish the art of dog training as a dynamic, ever-evolving dance—a testament to the limitless potential of the human-dog bond.
